Democrats & Iran Losing in Iraq
September 4, 2007
It’s clear that we are winning the war in Iraq. This fledgling democracy will continue to flourish as its security continues to improve. The British are pulling out of Basra, not because they have an anti war nut for a PM, but because the situation on the ground dictates that the timing is right to hand over control to the Iraqi government.
So what’s the bad news? Well as we head into our own 2008 elections the fact that this war is termed as a success is bad news for Democrats running for President. The war on terror will probably continue into the next, likely Republican, administration. As Iraq continues to stabilize the Democrats will have a tough time holding on to slim majorities in congress and their prospects for getting back the White House look worse every day. The fact is that Democrats continue to prove why they can’t be trusted with the national security of this country.
This is also bad news for Iran and Syria, Iran has been working, sometimes covertly but not very often, against our progress in Iraq for the last few years. They have openly embraced Al Qaeda with the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” mentality. They have to know by now that Bush will probably deal with Iran before he leaves office.
Syria is on the edge. This country continues to sponsor terrorism; they continue to send terrorists into Iraq as well as Lebanon, yet the Speaker of State, and the House of Representatives leading idiot Nancy Pelosi continues support terrorism. Syria will have to be dealt with, although probably not militarily by us, if it requires a military solution it will likely be Israel that corrects that problem.
A Judicial Branch out of Control
September 1, 2007
A federal activist judge in San Francisco, Maxine Chesney, granted a temporary restraining order blocking new rules that enable the Social Security Administration to send out the so called “no match” letters. These letters go to employers advising them that the Social Security number filed by the employer for a specific employee doesn’t match the Social Security database.
This gives the employer 90 days to fix clerical errors that may have created the problem, employee put down the wrong number, etc. If they don’t clear it up within 90 days then Homeland Security may impose fines, or if it is determined that the employer is knowingly employing illegal aliens then criminal prosecution may follow.
So again we have an activist judge, a Clinton appointee which is no surprise, that is preventing two government agencies from enforcing the laws of this country. This is what the immigration debate was all about last May-June. Enforce the existing laws on the books, build the wall on the southern border, etc. More laws, comprehensive or not, do not fix the problem of these liberal activists that seek to ignore our laws and weaken the security of this country.
If congress wants to do something they should begin impeaching federal judges that ignore the law or just flat make it up as they go.
Too much success going on in Iraq
August 22, 2007
Let’s see we have reduced violence, we have Iraqi’s making real progress on security in their country, and the troop surge is working. This is all good news for the Iraqi’s, its good news for the President, its good news for the region as a whole. So what’s the downside you may ask? Well if all that is good news then that’s bad news for Democrats, more importantly its bad news for the antiwar democrats running for President. So with all the success in Iraq it stands to reason that Democrats have to find some way to make a negative out of all this positive news. Enter the wannabe HRH Hillary Clinton and the report by the AP (via FoxNews) that continues to show why we can’t trust Democrats with the security of our country, or the security of Iraq for that matter.
Hillary believes that the Iraqi parliament should replace Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki with a “less divisive and more unifying figure”. The same could definitely be said of the people of New York as their choice for Senator, the same could be said for the Democratic Party about their presumptive nominee for President. Why would we expect the Democratic Party to listen to the people of this country, there obviously too busy telling the rest of the world how to run their countries. I never knew it was possible to be so arrogant and ignorant at the same time but then Clinton Machine rises to new lows with each passing day.
The Economics of Illegal Immigration
August 11, 2007
It’s been a while since I have felt compelled to write about illegal immigration but the issue is once again before us. The AP has a story how angry the farmers are that the federal government intends to start enforcing some of the immigration laws. How dare they actually want to enforce a law. Those of us that are pro 2nd amendment only can dream that they would get the kind of enforcement of gun laws that illegal immigration gets but I digress. The story in question is centered around the San Joaquin Valley of California, this area produces much of the fruit and vegetables that feeds not only us but many other parts of the world as well. It is also an area that I am very familiar with as I was born and raised in the farming communities of San Joaquin Valley.
For many years immigrants have come north to harvest fruits and vegetables some legally, many illegally. We are now to believe that farmers can’t get by with legal workers, they cost too much, there aren’t enough of them, the excuses are endless. Yet the many of the illegal workers that have worked in this environment for decades have also been a drain on the resources of those communities. Much of the crime in these areas comes from them, the schools are filled with kids that don’t speak English but it is somehow thought of as cruel to suggest that we not educate children of illegal immigrants. They fill our hospitals, our jails, and our schools, but what solution do these farmers provide for these problems that they largely created. None, they believe that the low priced goods they provide should offset the problems that are created. If we use that logic then why not hold these farmers financially responsible for the crime their illegal employees create, the hospital bills they ring up, why not have these employers pay the cost to educate the kids of illegal immigrants? I know the idea is ludicrous but it illustrates my point, the answer we constantly get is that it will drive up prices, how so? Are we not paying these illegals minimum wage, are we not going to have enough minimum wage workers already here?
We already have a temporary worker program that has visas that are issued for instances like this. I (like a majority of Americans) fail to understand why we need to ignore laws for one group of people just because they perform a service cheaper than anyone else. If we need more temp workers then fine, prove to us there is a need, help secure the border, hire only legal workers. Many of the illegals will leave if there is no work and let them apply for a work visa and come back legally. We need to enforce the existing laws and let the free market determine the cost of goods, yes there are going to be a few spikes along the way but they will be minor and the market will balance out. Over regulation and the cost of fuel are more of a problem for farmers than the difference between legal and illegal workers, those items already affect the cost of goods sold today and until we find a way to keep fuel costs low, and reduce over burdensome regulation food costs are going to continue this roller coaster ride.
More Wiretapping of Terrorists
August 6, 2007
Today’s New York Times article by James Risen was interesting. Risen gets some of it right when he states in the opening line that the new wiretapping law “broadly expanded the government’s authority to eavesdrop on the international telephone calls”. However as usual the Times gets it wrong in the last part of the first sentence when Risen states “and e-mail messages of American citizens without warrants.” How many times now have we been through this? We are not spying on American citizens, we are spying on terrorists!
The new law expires in six months and the defeatocrat controlled congress is not likely to make it permanent. The ACLU is already beside themselves that this got passed as it is!
Canada’s Immigration Problem
August 1, 2007
ABC News reported yesterday that liberals, you know those enlightened among us, are leaving the good ole US of A to semi-socialist paradise of Canada. I say semi because we all know that Cuba is the complete package when it comes to a socialist paradise. Any way this presents a big problem as I see for Canada, they are importing liberals (I didn’t really think they needed more but who am I to argue) these (contrary to the ABC News report) are not generally hard working individuals they are people that expect you to give them something for nothing. At the same time they are exporting people, meaning people are leaving Canada at a rate still higher than those entering from the US. Who are these people that are coming in, here for our welfare system? No generally they are hard working people that are coming here for the lower taxes.
It won’t take too many more years and that will become a big problem for Canada. They will have too many taking and not enough earning income and paying taxes. Oh well, anything that brings in more people who believe in lower taxes and gets rid of liberals who are a drain on our society then I am for it. I say we should station the military on the border, they may be needed to help push all those VW buses into Canada, and we also need to make sure they don’t come back!
