Willard Mitt Romney Caught Pandering To Both Sides Again

Mitt Romney Weighs In On Gay Marriage by Reynold Joseph from WBZ Radio, Boston http://wbz.com/pages/2206416.php?contentType=4&contentId=2066779

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Former Governor Romney says he’s disappointed California’s Supreme Court has followed the Bay State in legalizing gay marriage.

The former Republican presidential contender said he was disappointed “to see one more time a one-vote majority of a state Supreme Court overturn the will of its people.”

He made the comments yesterday at the National Rifle Association’s convention in Louisville.

In November 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court approved same-sex marriages, which began taking place the following May. Romney supported an amendment to the state constitution to ban gay marriage, but the Legislature thwarted that effort.
Now California’s high court also has struck down laws barring gay marriages.

Unfortunately for both Willard and Reynold Joseph, we have the internet and nothing slips past us for very long. The following is what Willard has also said on this subject of homosexual “marriage”;

( I don’t know whether Reynold Joseph is attempting to rewrite history or simply didn’t bother to research Romney’s flip-flopping before he wrote this article but, … )

Activists Remember a Different Romney
Advocates for gay and abortion rights and the environment say the GOP candidate misled them on his positions. by Peter Wallsten
http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/03/25/78/

When Romney huddled with dozens of gay activists for an endorsement meeting in 2002, at the restaurant attached to the gay bar, some of his appeals were similar to those he had made on abortion.

As with the abortion-rights activists, Romney promised the Log Cabin Republicans he would push against social conservatives on such issues as domestic partnerships for gays.

And, as with the NARAL meeting, some activists left the room thinking that Romney was closer to their position on key issues than he now says he was.

Romney was quoted in the media that year opposing same-sex marriage and same-sex civil unions. Still, after talking to Romney, some at the Log Cabin meeting thought he was sympathetic to their views on that issue, though clearly trying to navigate its touchy semantics.

“He said, ‘Call it whatever you want. Just don’t use the M-word,’ ” recalled businessman Richard Babson.

Babson also recalls Romney being asked at the meeting about a newly adopted Vermont law permitting civil unions. “It seemed to me that he was sympathetic on civil unions, that he was not quite there on marriage, but that he was also sympathetic on same-sex adoption and on gays and lesbians having families,” Babson said.

Patrick Guerriero, a prominent Log Cabin member, told the Bay Windows newspaper immediately after the meeting that Romney showed he was in agreement with the community on every major issue. “If you go down his list, it’s pretty much a check-off of the real hot-button concerns for gays and lesbians,” Guerriero said. “I do believe that, and as you know I’m a supporter of gay marriage.”

Romney won the Log Cabin endorsement.

In seeking the Republican nomination for president, Romney strikes a different posture on issues important to gays.

When addressing social conservatives, Romney makes fighting same-sex marriage and the 2003 Massachusetts court ruling that legalized it a cornerstone of his appeals. And on the campaign trail, he has portrayed same-sex parenthood as a danger to children, saying that “every child deserves a mother and a father.”

Madden, the Romney campaign spokesman, said Romney had consistently opposed same-sex marriage and civil unions. Madden said the campaign did not want to comment on why anyone in the meeting would have thought otherwise….

Romney’s thoughts on gay marriage, circa 1994 Posted by David Dahl 12/8/06  http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2006/12/romneys_thought.html

“…On why the gay community should support Romney over Kennedy, given Kennedy’s record of supporting both civil rights and the gay community:“Well, I think you’re partially right in characterizing Ted Kennedy as supportive of the gay community, and I respect the work and efforts he’s made on behalf of the gay community and for civil rights more generally, and I would continue that fight.“There’s something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation. When Ted Kennedy speaks on gay rights, he’s seen as an extremist. When Mitt Romney speaks on gay rights he’s seen as a centrist and a moderate. It’s a little like if Eugene McCarthy was arguing in favor of recognizing China, people would have called him a nut. But when Richard Nixon does it, it becomes reasonable. When Ted says it, it’s extreme; when I say it, it’s mainstream.”

“On whether he would have supported Helms’s amendment to the 1994 Elementary and Secondary Education Act to ban federal funding to public schools that encourage or support “homosexuality as a positive lifestyle alternative”:“I would have opposed that amendment. I don’t think the federal government has any business dictating to local school boards what their curriculum or practices should be. I think that’s a dangerous precedent in general. I would have opposed that. It also grossly misunderstands the gay community by insinuating that there’s an attempt to proselytize a gay lifestyle on the part of the gay community. I think it’s wrong-headed and unfortunate and hurts the party by being identified with the Republican party.”

And anything but the truth….

April 5, 2008

Congressional defeatocrats have made it clear to General Petraeus that they don’t want any good news when he testifies to congress next week.  Head Traitor Nancy Pelosi:

"We have to know the real ground truths of what is happening there, not put a shine on events because of a resolution [of the situation in Basra] that looks less violent when it has in fact been dictated by someone [Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada] al-Sadr who can grant or withhold that call for violence or not,"

Translation, Don’t come here and give us the facts on the ground.  We only want to here how Bush lied, how many have died, and when you will be ready to declare failure and bring the troops home.

A small amount of fighting in Basra, less than what happens in Washington DC or Philadelphia these days, and democrats think can paint a picture of failure again.  The media has been ignoring Iraq for months now.  Why, because it has been a success.  Success in a republican administration doesn’t sell papers, and doesn’t get ratings.  Oh and it doesn’t fit the socialist template of the media so it gets ignored.

Can Hillary be saved from herself?

March 25, 2008

It seems that Hillary suffers from the same foot in mouth disease that most other liberal democrats suffer from.  Why not just let well enough alone, is it that hard for her to sit back and make the same normal boring speeches that she’s been making for the last six months?

Conservatives lead by Rush Limbaugh are doing their best to save Hillary from defeat but can they save her from herself?  This notion that she was under sniper fire in Bosnia was bull, we all knew it was bull, she knew it was bull, Obama knew it was bull, the press knew it was Bill uh I mean bull how did she expect to get away with it?  This isn’t 1993 where she can run around taking over the world and the press will stand by cheering "you go girl".  No they are firmly in Obama’s camp now, supporting him makes them believe that they are good people and that they are forgiven for their years of liberal racism.

No they can’t leave well enough alone so while Obama is laying on the beach in the Virgin Islands Hillary is running around trying to sound liberal enough to get the nomination without be perceived for the socialist kook she is.  She obviously doesn’t have the same gift that Obama does, the ability to ramble on for an hour and make people feel good but never saying much of anything.  No Hillary rambles on and usually says something that amounts to a lie and now she gets called on it.

If she keeps this up I don’t think even Rush will be able to save the Clinton campaign.

Still Blaming Bush…

March 21, 2008

It was learned recently that three contract employees at the State Department were fired recently for accessing Obama’s passport information without authorization.  This seems to happen fifteen years or so, last time it was Bill Clinton’s records that were accessed in 1992.  The issue I have is the way the campaign reacted as though Bush was accessing the records for dirt he could use…

Obama spokesman Bill Burton issued a stern statement Thursday night, saying: “This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, even from an Administration that has shown little regard for either over the last eight years. Our government’s duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes."

Bill Burton is an absolute joke.  Who is he kidding anyway, yes Bush is President, and yes one of his people, Condoleezza Rice, is Secretary of State, but it stops there.  Everyone knows full well that there are no other republicans and certainly no conservatives at the State Department.

No from my perspective this has all the earmarks of Clinton Inc.  The State Department is still full of Clinton cronies who have been undermining Bush for seven years and Obama is a bigger threat to them right now than Bush.

I sure once we find out who these people actually are we’ll know that they were donors to Bill and Hillary back in the nineties and are donors to Hillary and Bill now.  What am I thinking, the MSM won’t publish that info, and we can’t have democrats who don’t get along.  That’s just not acceptable!

WHY DIDN’T WE KNOW?

YOUR NEWS MEDIA REFUSES TO TELL US!

Instead of reflecting our love for our country, we get photos of flag burning incidents at Abu Ghraib and people throwing snowballs at the presidential motorcades.

Tragically, the lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves three two major purposes of the liberal news media:

1. It is intended to undermine the world’s perception of the United States thus minimizing consequent support, and:

2. It is intended to discourage American citizens and erode their support for the war.

3. It is intended to help the Democratic Party gain more power in the next elections.

Hillary pandering to the far left as usual

November 11, 2007

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has admitted to planting questions about global warming at a recent town hall event to discuss clean energy.  This begs the question: if you have plant a question about global warming at a town hall meeting to discuss clean energy then how important is this issue anyway.  Could it be that most people, outside of the few kooks on the far left and the college students who have been programmed to believe this garbage, don’t believe in global warming after all?

Now it appears that this is a very common practice for Hillary.  It seems that someone else has come forward to say that basically the same thing, that a Hillary staffer approached them at a campaign event and asked them to ask a specific question.

In a telephone interview with Fox, Geoffrey Mitchell, 32, says he was approached by an operative for the Clinton campaign to ask a planted question about standing up to President Bush on Iraq war funding. The encounter happened before an event on a farm outside Fort Madison, Iowa. The Clinton event was hosted by Iowa State Sen. Gene Fraise.

Mr. Mitchell declined to ask the question requested by Clinton staffer Chris Hayler:

“I told Chris I had other issues I wanted to raise with Sen. Clinton,” Mitchell said. Asked what those were, Mitchell said: “I wanted to ask her why she voted for the Iraq war and why she didn’t consider that a mistake.”

And then surprisingly enough Hillary declined to take questions at the event.  I guess it boils down to the reality that if Hillary can’t choose the questions she will answer then she won’t take questions at all.  This woman thinks she is qualified to be President?  Only a fool likes to hear the sound of their own voice…..
