Track The Other White Meat, Federal PORK!

February 18, 2008

Townhall reports via their February ‘08 magazine that we can now track all government contracts, grants, insurance, federal assistance and loans through the Office of Management and Budget’s website at www.USAspending.gov

We can search from the government agency down or from the recipients up, by city, county and state all the way to the specific transaction. They can no longer hide funding of The Bridges To Nowhere or other Pork like the Museum for Woodstock.

This website was provided by Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) who mandated it with the “bipartisan” Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 which opened the website in December 2007. Coburn said in a news conference the day it opened that Bloggers were the “key group in getting this done” and told us to “get out there and start using this….I think it’s going to be wildfire.”

I think Tom was trying to tell us in no uncertain terms there’s a ton of Pork to reveal to the American people…what do you think he meant?

Lets get busy guys and gals, through this source we can whittle down big government very quickly when they realize we’re watching them like a hawk…but, we have to actually use this rightful tool and I know for some of you, you’re already at the website.

For those of you who would like a guide to know where to start digging and why, I highly recommend Fred Dalton Thompson’s Government at the Brink: The Root Causes of Government Waste and Mismanagement. ( Townhall Press August 2007 )

Democrats still play politics with national security

February 17, 2008

It never ceases to amaze me how Democratic leaders continue to play politics with the security of our country and no one in the media seems to care.  Once again Nancy Pelosi and house democrats stand up for the big trial lawyers and the ACLU by not bringing to a vote the legislation needed to allow wiretapping of terrorists to continue.

Democrats in the house don’t want the portions of the bill passed in the Senate that grants civil immunity to telecommunications companies that did what their government asked of them and in turn got sued for it by the ACLU.  Trial lawyers stand to make hundreds of millions of dollars in fees from these frivolous lawsuits so once again we can count on Pelosi to put fundraisers and vacations ahead what’s best for the security of our country.

Are these really the people we want running the country?  Are these the people we want appointing judges to our nations courts?  When Republicans were in charge of the house we could at least count on them to do what was best for national security, the majority of the time.

Everything will be the fault of conservatives

February 11, 2008

So the “Big Tent” “Republicans” need something to blame this forthcoming loss on and Rush Limbaugh and the “far right extremists” are it.  I have taken a lot of heat recently, obviously nothing like Rush and Ann Coulter but heat nonetheless, for standing up for my principles and vowing to not support another liberal Republican.  No problem, I will gladly fall on that sword, the big tent crowd seeks to blame us for the forthcoming victory, be it Hillary or Obama, of the democrats.

Fine by me, I will stand up for my principles, I will do so alone if need be.  Perhaps too many people have forgotten what it means to have a Clinton in the White House.  There’s no pretending anymore, none of this “New Democrat” garbage that we were subjected to with Bill Clinton.  Nope, Hillary and Obama bring full blown socialism in that trainload of BS coming to your town.  Many have tried to educate me on why we have to rally around McCain and support the nominee.  I have heard it all, the war, the judges, terrorism, etc.  It doesn’t matter what you point to McCain’s record is clear that he compromises with democrats every time.

The reality is that it is the big tent crowd that has done this to themselves.  Sure you will get a few conservatives that hold their nose and again vote RINO because it is the lesser of two evils, but it won’t be enough. There is enough of the conservative base that is too damn mad this time.  The conservative base that Ronald Reagan revived created majorities in congress when we hadn’t had one in over forty years, the conservative base has allowed the Republican Party majorities in congress until we had enough in 2006.  The big tent crowd didn’t learn from their mistakes of 2006, instead they seek to replicate them.  No thanks, you want to act like liberals then fine enjoy your minority, because I will not support the ideals that brought us forty years of minority party status.

We now go back to the grassroots, we go back to finding real conservatives to run for congress, perhaps this time we may find a few that actually govern as conservatives.

Why not Reagan?

February 3, 2008

As Republicans we are left with two liberals, McCain & Huckabee, and a republican from a liberal state who claims to have become a conservative.  The problem is that most conservatives have been alienated this election.  Once again we are seemingly forced to choose between the lessor of five evils.  Now I don’t care what the issue is there almost no difference between these candidates, and yes I include Hillary and Obama in that as well.

Romney is probably the closest to conservatism of the five candidate but even that is a stretch.  His healthcare plan not much different that Hillary’s, his positions on other conservative issues leaves a lot to be desired as well.  Huckabee and McCain, well I won’t waste any more time with their conservative credentials because they don’t have any.

McCain is leading in the polls and most indications are that he will be the nominee, so much so that even he now “assumes” that he will be the nominee.  That may be but I am done holding my nose and voting for liberals dressed as republicans.  Republicans have apparently not learned the lessons of the 2006 congressional elections.

I have read many proposals like write in Fred Thompson, the only candidate who was a true conservative in the race, and that would be fine but I don’t think that sends the message to the republican party that needs to be sent.  So here is what I propose, I suggest we begin a write in campaign for Ronald Reagan.  Yes I know that a write in candidate can’t win, that’s fine, I doubt he would serve even if elected, at this point I look at it as more of a protest vote.  If we can generate even a few % of the vote in the primaries that remain then we can consider it a message sent.

So on Tuesday those of you that feel alienated by the Republican party do something constructive, let people know you want a return to the conservative values of Ronald Reagan.  Write in RONALD REAGAN!
