Why not Reagan?

As Republicans we are left with two liberals, McCain & Huckabee, and a republican from a liberal state who claims to have become a conservative.  The problem is that most conservatives have been alienated this election.  Once again we are seemingly forced to choose between the lessor of five evils.  Now I don’t care what the issue is there almost no difference between these candidates, and yes I include Hillary and Obama in that as well.

Romney is probably the closest to conservatism of the five candidate but even that is a stretch.  His healthcare plan not much different that Hillary’s, his positions on other conservative issues leaves a lot to be desired as well.  Huckabee and McCain, well I won’t waste any more time with their conservative credentials because they don’t have any.

McCain is leading in the polls and most indications are that he will be the nominee, so much so that even he now “assumes” that he will be the nominee.  That may be but I am done holding my nose and voting for liberals dressed as republicans.  Republicans have apparently not learned the lessons of the 2006 congressional elections.

I have read many proposals like write in Fred Thompson, the only candidate who was a true conservative in the race, and that would be fine but I don’t think that sends the message to the republican party that needs to be sent.  So here is what I propose, I suggest we begin a write in campaign for Ronald Reagan.  Yes I know that a write in candidate can’t win, that’s fine, I doubt he would serve even if elected, at this point I look at it as more of a protest vote.  If we can generate even a few % of the vote in the primaries that remain then we can consider it a message sent.

So on Tuesday those of you that feel alienated by the Republican party do something constructive, let people know you want a return to the conservative values of Ronald Reagan.  Write in RONALD REAGAN!
