Fred Thompson outraised all but Romney in 1st month

Ok I am a glass half full person so I am glad Fred Thompson raised $3 million in the first 26 days of his “testing the waters” phase. No other candidate raised that much in the first month except for Romney who also had to loan his campaign $850,000.00 during the testing the waters phase. The other item of note for Romney is that he had pre-arranged several high dollar fundraisers before he started so he could raise quick cash in hopes that he could jump out to a big $$ lead and hopefully limit the competition willing to get into the raise.

So I feel really good about this, Fred is out there talking to people and is now leading most major polls, he continues to win nearly every straw poll out there and he is spending NEXT TO NOTHING doing it. Would have liked to raise $6 million in the first month, sure but right now NOBODY is raising $6 million a month and the other candidates fundraising down altogether.

The last point I wish to make on this subject is this. Fred is raising enough money to prove that he needs to be in this raise. This is a race for the hearts and minds of the people, if the race boiled down to only dollars and sense then Romney would be leading hands down instead being a solid fourth in nearly every poll. If I was the Romney camp I would be asking myself why is it that I still run fourth in most of the national polls after McCain’s campaign has completely imploded?
