The Fred Thompson Campaign
July 28, 2007 · Print This Article
A lot has been made this week about changes in campaign staff, this person being added or that person being fired, etc. Other than the DNC controlled MSM who really cares? I know there are several “Conservatives” out there bashing Fred for bringing in Spencer Abraham because supposedly he believes in open borders, and maybe he does, I don’t know and I don’t care because Spencer Abraham is not on the ballot Fred Thompson is.
Just because Fred brings someone into the campaign doesn’t mean he agrees with every position that person has ever taken, and it doesn’t mean that every campaign staffer agrees with every position that Fred has ever taken. Fred Thompson smokes cigars, I personally don’t like cigars, does that mean that I should support Mitt Romney because he doesn’t smoke cigars (I don’t know if he does or not it’s just a means of illustrating the point.) of course not. This is the type of garbage that the defeatocrats do.
A lot has also been made about Jeri pulling the strings and how bad that is. First these comments have been made by Washington insiders and people that make a living running around “handling candidates”. So I don’t put a lot of stock in the comments in the first place but let’s take it at face value, what’s wrong with Jeri having a prominent role in this campaign? She is a media consultant, she’s very well versed in politics and campaigns having worked at the RNC, she obviously has Fred’s best interests at heart, and who knows Fred and what he believes better than her?
We are not talking about the same old run of the mill campaign. Fred has told us that from the start, now that he is doing what he said he was going to do some conservatives don’t have the stomach for it? Let’s keep our eye on the ball and remember it is Fred who is (or soon will be) the candidate and it’s his beliefs and his views that we care about.

I hope you are right, Brandon. I truly like Fred Thompson and his bringing Abraham on board was a shocker. Perhaps it is shrewd political maneuvering. As to his wife, she does have experience that could be valuable. But if she is running off all the paid help, that doesn’t seem to be good.
We will just have to wait and see. I’m still putting my support behind Fred. We are in Tennessee, know a little about Fred, and I was thrilled at the prospect of him for President. I’m not changing my mind yet.
Sunday Reading List 7/29/07…
It’s the last Sunday in July, 2007, and there is much going on in this wonderful world of ours. I have selected some serious articles, some humor, from all sides of the political spectrum. Prop your feet up, put on…
I get then feeling that if Fred wasn’t an actor with a recognizable face he would be the Dennis Kucinich of the Republican field.
I think you have Fred confused with Ron Paul who actually is the Dennis Kucinich of the current Republican field.
The fact remains that Fred is the only conservative in top tier candidates, even if you include McCain who is no longer a top tier candidate in my opinion and has not given Conservatives any reason to support him. Rudy, Romney, and McCain as the nominee would only ensure that Hillary becomes President.
